Cultural Evening and announcement of The Wayland Jigsaw Competition:

Salena Dawson 3rd September 2010

Cultural Evening and announcement of The Wayland Jigsaw Competition:

On the 4 September 2010 The Wayland Chamber of Commerce was proud to announce the winner of their first Jigsaw Competition.

This Chamber along with Pride in Breckland worked very hard to devised a competition with the aims of increasing foot flow into local business, create awareness of the goods and services which local businesses provide and raise the profile of the good work that Wayland Chamber of Commerce and Pride in Breckland achieve in the local area.

The competition consisted of 30 business participants each having its own jigsaw piece to hand out to the competition participants. The Competition participants were required to collect each piece of jigsaw, but were only handed the jigsaw once they had asked the relevant question of the business. Each business donated a prize and Pride In Breckland donated a 40-inch television.

The lucky winner Lesley Lloyd won all the prizes within the prize fund. Mayor Roy Ivory picked the winning name out of the prize draw box which contained all the names and addresses of the competition entrants who completed the jigsaw puzzle.
Prior to being announced as the jigsaw Competition winner Lesley enjoyed along with all of us the cultural delights of a Samba Band, Belly Dancing, Capoeira and a grand finale of Bagpipes. The Cultural event was organised by Richard Will of Prise in Breckland. Well done Richard you really did us proud. Further we were treated to culinary delights of a BBQ from Portugal and foods from Poland, Lithuania, Portugal, Brazil and Britain. These delights were provided by Tina and Rute Fierria. My favourite being the BBQd sardines.

Due to the success of the jigsaw competition and media coverage I hope that the business community and local community will embrace similar type competitions in the future.
