Third Business Breakfast Forum

On the 26 October 2010 the Wayland Chamber of Commerce held its third Breakfast Business Forum, which was kindly sponsored by Total Health Pharmacy and Total Health Therapy.

Earlier in the year, when I proposed to the Chamber that we were proactive initiating business to business networking locally, I was informed by various people that the local business community had certain apathy towards such networking events and as a result any such attempts at a network forum by the Chamber would be unsuccessful. It always gives me great pleasure to prove people wrong. Especially when I know I am right.

As a result of being told local business did not require networking, I and the vice chair Janina Dingwall put on our trainers and began to talk one to one to Wayland businesses. It became apparent very quickly that Wayland businesses did seek such a forum where they could learn about local services being offered and leave the forum with information that would benefit their business or indeed themselves personally.

As a Chamber we therefore decided we would provide a forum, which would take place on a quarterly basis: Networking, bacon roll and back to work by 9am. I am immensely pleased and extremely relieved that all three Business Breakfast Forums this year have been a huge success.

This latest Breakfast Forum was based around the theme of well being and personal development. Rachel Ray and Geoff Ray told us of their commitment to the Wayland Area as an independent business and the services that the Pharmacy provided such as, blood pressure checks and cholesterol checks which are available free. Further Rachel and Geoff had identified the need locally for quality complimentary services and had created Total health Therapy to meet this need.

We also heard from Georgina Barrett from Archant in relation to the EDP Shop Local at Christmas Campaign. As a result of her attendance I have been informed by Georgina that many of the delegates have enquired or indeed signed up to the Shop Local at Christmas Campaign. This is great news as it encourages customers to come into our local businesses and use our goods and services, but also by doing so a lucky shopper will win £1,000.

I wish to thank the delegates for taking the time to make these Business Breakfast Forums such a success. I particularly enjoy stepping back and listening to the buzz around the room as the delegate’s converse with each other.

So, if you supply goods or services in the Wayland Area I would encourage all of you to take the time to take part in a Business Breakfast Forum, the next one being on the 26 January 2011. Attendance is free to the first member delegate (small charge for second delegate and above) and includes bacon, coffee and fabulous company (well mine anyway). Non–members are also very welcome at a small charge.
