Wayland set to benefit froma variety of initiatives

Norman Wilson 4th July 2013

The Town Team have completed their largest event so far. The Classic Car event has brought people to Watton and Wayland to see what we have to offer.
The town will host floral displays and bicycles decorated with flowers on July 13th for Watton High Street in Bloom with Healthy Eating week and a 1940’s ball taking us up to the end of November.
The Chamber’s Shop Local leaflet gives a good guide to services available locally as well as to the high street retail shops.
William H Brown has done a fantastic job with signs for the Wayland show on 4th August where the Chamber will have a stand. Come and see us there. All of these will put Wayland on show.
The ‘Better Broadband for Norfolk’ campaign is expected to reach Watton. See http://www.betterbroadbandnorfolk.co.uk/ for details of how it will reach 90% of Norfolk by the end of 2015.
NewAngliaLEP held an excellent conference in Swaffham. One of the new initiatives is New Anglia Capital see http://newangliacapital.co.uk/ New Anglia Capital provides businesses with innovative, alternative methods of raising money for growth and innovation. With conventional sources of funding becoming ever more scarce, this is an exciting and unique driver for business growth. NAC brings businesses together with sources of private and public early stage funding in the East Anglia region. They are looking for businesses needing investment and to grow their network of investors. The Local Enterprise Partnership is providing matched funding to these investments.
The County Council are active on the transport agenda with the first part of the newly dualled section of the A11 now open. The prospectus is available at http://www.norfolk.gov.uk/view/ncc120098 . On page 11 it describes the Cambridge to Norwich Service via Thetford. We will be adding extra objectives on Broadband on the train and a coordinated bus service from Thetford to Watton. Similar services are being requested from Wymondham to the Norwich Research Park.
