Wayland Show and funding increases

What a great time we had at the Wayland Show on Sunday 4th of August. We held a business card draw for a lovely bottle of bubbly, won by Norfolk Farmhouse Dairies - and made our fingers sore tying helium balloons for the many children who came our way. We understand that the Show committee are entirely happy with Anglian Waterís response and support, and are content that a repeat of last yearís cancellation will not occur in the future. We were so pleased to support the Show that promotes local business and the community.

The Wayland Chamber had an excellent breakfast in the middle of July where we learned more about the local SWARM apprentice scheme that is now well funded to provide enterprising apprenticeships to small businesses in Breckland, see www.swarmapprentice.org.uk.

There is good news from the NewAnglia LEP. They have secured government funding of £3.2 million of funding to support the development of the agri-tech industry in Peterborough, North Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. Amongst the features is the development of a food cluster but, more importantly, the provision of loans for local SMEs in specialist food-related sectors and industries and creating innovation support for micro-enterprises that are currently unable to access support via existing schemes, such as the Growth Accelerator. Also they have secured £9 million to help create 1,000 jobs. The cash will be used to massively expand the LEPís Growing Business Fund, which offers grants for business expansion of between £25,000 and £100,000.

So in the near future there is a greater opportunity locally of funding business expansion and development. Read more at http://www.newanglia.co.uk/Media-Centre/Press-Releases

Finally the Town Team events continue to bring interest and footfall. Congratulations to our Florists for the Watton in Bloom event. The next events are the Healthy Choices on 14 September and 1940ís Weekend on 5 October.
