Chairman's Message

30th April 2014

The Wayland Chamber of Commerce Directory was first published in 1982 and has provided an invaluable source of local business information for the last thirty two years.

With the revitalisation of the housing market we are seeing many new families moving to the Wayland area. We hope therefore that this Directory is helpful in guiding newcomers to the wealth of experienced local businesses 'on our doorstep'.

Needless to say one of the prime tasks of the Wayland Chamber of Commerce is to promote the benefits of "keeping business local." Numerous national reports have outlined the community financial benefits of keeping business local - a much higher percentage of locally spent money stays local! Whilst we fully appreciate that consumers can't source everything locally, we do encourage the use of local businesses wherever possible.

In turn, the financial support that the Chamber of Commerce receives from its 200 or so local business members ensures that numerous local projects can be assisted.

For instance the Watton Town Team, which has staged some very successful events in Watton High Street over the last year or so, was established with significant Chamber support, both financial and organisational. Over the last year we have been able to financially support various initiatives for Wayland Academy students as well as the Senior Citizens Christmas Party and Watton Carnival.

In addition the Chamber supports business to business function and has close ties with Wayland Partnership and Development Trust.

With use of the internet becoming a way of life these days, the Chamber's website, www.wayland-chamber.org.uk can also be used to search for local business information and has up to date information about the Chamber itself and local businesses. We trust you'll find the directory is helpful and encourages you once more to 'keep business local'.
