Criteria for joining the Wayland Chamber of Commerce

Membership of the Wayland Chamber of Commerce is open to any individual person, company or business interested in or actively engaged in business in the Wayland Area upon application and payment of the subscription fee for the year. The Committee of the Chamber of Commerce meets ten times each year and new applications are considered at each meeting. The Committee has the power to refuse an application for membership without assigning a reason.

Subscriptions

Every member pays an annual subscription of an amount determined by the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in advance each year. For subscription purposes there is no distinction between businesses in terms of size, turnover or number of employees, and all members of the Chamber are treated equally on all Chamber matters.

All subscriptions become due on the last day of December each year. No member is entitled to vote at any meeting of the Chamber unless the subscription has been paid.

The Secretary of the Chamber can accept and action membership applications immediately but subject to formal approval at a committee or general meeting of the Chamber. Acceptance may be deferred to such meetings, and applications can be refused without giving a reason. (A refusal is rare, and never because of 'competition').

A banker's standing order is the preferred means of payment for annual subscriptions as it obviates difficulties with renewals at the time the annual Directory is produced. The Secretary will send you a form via e-mail to fill in and return to the Chamber.

Provision of the details you are submitting above authorises the Chamber to hold them on paper and electronically, and to publish or otherwise use them but only for the purposes of business information and promotion in accordance with the Chamber's aims. Data is held and handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
